[FEATURE] Liebenpix

What a lovely surprise it was to wake up this morning and see my work being featured on the Liebenpix website! I'm an avid follower of this website, founded by Jason Liebenberg, which seeks to promote South African photographers. Their mission - and I quote from their website - is "to promote South African photographers, and supply them with a new, exciting and fresh platform off of which they can now display their work.” I'm truly honored to be featured alongside some of my biggest inspirations who are also featured on the site. Check out my profile by clicking through on the image below, and while you're there, take a browse around and have a look at some of the incredible work coming out of SA photographers.

Surf City

Met up with very talented surfer girl, Tanika Hoffman, to shoot last month. Landed some decent swell at a spot that seldom breaks. Not the easiest spot to shoot from the land, especially with the really harsh afternoon sun but I'm always up for a challenge. Nikita Robb was also out (last two shots) - the girls really dominated, and call me bias, but it was nice to see ;)

Check out Tanika's personal website here and view a profile recently done on her with more awesome pics from Chappypix.

[FEATURE] magicseaweed Photo of the Day

I'm always surprised and incredibly grateful when any of my photographs receive some form of recognition, no matter how big or small. I love sharing my passion and when others enjoy my photographs, I feel fulfilled. Logging on to magicseaweed earlier today I thought I recognised the Photo of the Day. Thanks to the guys at magicseaweed for selecting my shot and thanks to the surfer, Philip Myburgh (follow him on twitter @IJ_SurfingChef). Click-through on the picture to see the full site.

If I only scrape out a living, at least it's a living worth scraping.

This is quite an old video but it has more meaning to me now that I've gotten more into my surf photography. Have a watch (it's short), I find it really inspiring. It just sums up the insane passion that I (and many others) have for shooting surf...

Something Different

I haven't had much time to shoot anything lately, and that has been driving me rather crazy. To say I'm addicted to my camera would be an understatement (just ask my poor boyfriend, or should I say, photographic assistant). I was determined to shoot some surfing this past weekend but unfortunately the sea had other ideas and I didn't find much to shoot. Driving home after an unsuccessful mission I passed Kirstenbosch botanical gardens and it dawned on me that I haven't been there in over a decade. And so a spontaneous visit ensued. I spent the afternoon getting lost in the beautiful surrounds and immersing myself and my camera into the world of the little creatures who live there. I love playing tourist in our beautiful city.

Endless Summer

The seasons are definitely changing. It's a serious race to get to the beach after work to shoot before the sun disappears; we're swiftly losing minutes of daylight as winter starts to creep in. Gone are late evenings at the beach like this one at Long Beach...

Special thanks to Tarryn Chudleigh & Tanika Hoffman for coming down to shoot with me on this eve. You can expect more pics of these ripping ladies soon.

[FEATURE] Saltwater Girl Magazine - interview

I've been so blessed with so many wonderful opportunities with my surf photography. One of them was being asked to do an interview with local magazine, Saltwater Girl. Check it out below. For more cool articles, buy the issue (April / May Issue 14.3). Follow SWG on twitter too for good measure.
