[PUBLISHED WORK] Do It Now Magazine - Ultimate X: An Action-packed Adventure (Words & Photographs)

Two weekends ago I photographed the Ultimate X festival, South Africa's premier extreme sports event. I had the awesome opportunity to cover the event for South African adventure, sport and lifestyle magazine, Do It Now. A Day in the Bay

It's days like these that I love to shoot. Warm, light wind, clear water, and some beautiful waves. These were taken quite a while ago in Kalk Bay, but I just never got around to publishing them. Better late than never I guess!

Tarryn Chudleigh (Part 1)

Cape Town surfergirl and Billabong sponsored rider, Tarryn Chudleigh and I recently met up to do a lifestyle photoshoot. I'll be doing a series of blog posts featuring the images we got. We had tons of fun doing the shoot. Working with Tarryn is so effortless - she has such a great sense of style (one that most girls would envy!) and she's very comfortable in front of the camera. Tarryn is a Sector 9 ambassador so we decided to do one scene with her and her Sector 9 board. These are some of the shots. Follow Tarryn's adventures on her blog and on Facebook.

[PUBLISHED WORK] Reef Advert in Zigzag Issue 37.2

Boland surfer, Rigard Smit and I landed the latest Reef advertisement in Zigzag Surfing Magazine Issue 37.2. And on top of that, the below shot is also currently being used for a Reef store banner at the Natural Energy Surf Shop in Strand. Rigard is an amazing surfer to work with; really stoked on the results we got from this particular shoot.

One Shot - a surf photography documentary

It's not often that I share videos on my blog but I came across this one this morning. It's called "One Shot" - a short documentary on world renowned surf photographer, Russel Ord. I have the utmost respect for water surf photographers who put themselves in the most insane situations to capture the perfect moment. These guys are the real talent in surf photography. Here's an excerpt on the film from the official website:

"'One Shot' is a short documentary that looks into the life of Russell Ord, a West Australian, world renowned surf Photographer as he embarks on a mission to capture 'one shot' that defines who he is, not just what he does. A husband and father of 3, Russell has for years shot professional surfers and ocean scapes, only to wake up one day and look back on his images with total emptiness and dissatisfaction"

Red Bull King of the Air 2013

This past Sunday, Cape Town played host to some of the best kiteboarders in the world for the Red Bull King of the Air competition. It was one of the only reasons why any Capetonian dared to venture out in a howling South Easter, which has been known to keep us couped up inside. But braving the wind was worth it when we got to watch 24 of the world's best in action. The height's these guys were able to reach against the perfect backdrop of Table Mountain and Cape Town central made it a photographers heaven. Jesse Richman from the USA ended up taking the title. A world class event right on our doorstep, I definitely won't be missing similar one's in the future.
